What people ask most often

Working together, the CoolCMS licence, operation and prices. If you do not find an answer, write to me through the form below; I will reply by the next day.

Working together

How we start, deadlines and replies.

How long does it take?

A presentation site takes three to four weeks, a portal six to ten weeks, a turnkey system three months or more depending on scope. I confirm the deadline only after we go through what the website should do — earlier it would be guessing.

How quickly do you react when something breaks?

It depends on what you have ordered. Without a care plan I fix problems in the order they arrive, usually the same or the next working day. With a plan the reaction times from the price list apply, and the Extended plan includes cover during holidays.

Will you take over a website built by someone else?

Yes. First I find out what state the website is in: I check access, source code, the biggest risks and the scope of fixes needed. The takeover audit does not oblige you to further cooperation.

How much does the first consultation cost?

Nothing. First I ask what the website should do, and only then send an offer, straight away with a deadline. The consultation does not oblige you to anything.

CoolCMS and the licence

What you buy and what is yours.

What if I stop working with you in a few years?

The website keeps running and does not go anywhere. The licence for the system is perpetual and does not depend on ending the cooperation. The design, texts and data in the database are yours without reservation and you can export them at any time. The system is built on PHP, Nette and MySQL, so any other developer can pick it up.

Why a licence and not ownership of the code?

You have full access to the source code; the licence lets you read it, modify it and have anyone else modify it for running your website. The copyright to the system stays with me. The design, texts, custom-built features and data are yours.

Can I start with a small website and add an e-shop later?

That is exactly what modules are for. You start with content and a blog, and we switch on the e-shop, warehouse or classifieds when you need them. The website is not rewritten for that, only extended with another section.

How much does a second website cost?

Every further website, even for the same company, needs its own licence. We agree the price separately according to the licence terms.

Can I edit the website myself?

You manage texts, images, menus and module content in the administration.

Operation and technology

Hosting, performance and languages.

What does it run on? Is ordinary hosting enough?

The system runs on PHP, Nette and MySQL. For larger projects I switch on Redis for fast loading and Elasticsearch for search; those need their own virtual server. I either set one up and manage it for you, or deploy the system on yours.

Can it handle a larger e-shop?

Search and filtering can run on Elasticsearch. The warehouse calculates reservations and availability continuously. Where the limits are, I say upfront — I would rather turn down a job than promise what the system cannot do.

Do you also build websites in foreign languages?

Yes. The system is multilingual from the ground up, both the interface and the content. Every language has its own addresses, currency and VAT rates.

Who does the updates?

I deploy system updates as part of website care, on my server and on yours.
